In the Audit and Assurance unit, students will explore foundational concepts and functions crucial to audit and assurance processes. The course begins by elucidating the concept and functions of audit, corporate governance, and the role of ethics in professional conduct. Students then delve into practical aspects, learning to obtain and accept audit engagements, assess risks, and plan financial statement audits.
The unit progresses to internal controls, where students describe and evaluate controls, audit techniques, and IT system assessments. The course further covers the auditor's work, emphasizing evidence collection aligned with International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).
Lastly, students focus on considering subsequent events and the going concern principle in audit work, understanding their reflection in auditor's reports and the final review.
