Course Overview

The Taxation unit is tailored to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Maltese tax system as it pertains to individuals, single companies, and groups of companies. Through a structured curriculum, students will delve into the intricate details of Maltese tax regulations, cultivating the knowledge and skills essential for adept tax planning and compliance within the local context.

Upon successful completion, students will have gained a profound insight into the fundamental principles of the Maltese tax system, demonstrating the ability to apply these principles to individuals and single companies, ensuring compliance and optimizing tax positions.

Furthermore, the unit equips students with the skills necessary to address the complexities of taxation for groups of companies, encompassing group structures, consolidation, and strategic considerations for tax planning within a group context.

The main assessment method will be as follows: 100% assignment (Word Count: 4,000 – 6,000 words)

  • Applicants must hold a qualification at MQF Level 4 or equivalent.
  • While not mandatory, relevant work experience in accounting, finance, or a related field will be considered advantageous.
  • A demonstrated interest in accounting principles and financial transactions, along with a commitment to successfully completing the programme.
  • Applicants from countries where English is not the primary language must provide evidence of English proficiency, such as an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.
