This module focuses on the pivotal role of the Childcare Educator in cultivating reciprocal, responsive, and secure relationships with children. Participants learn effective techniques for engaging in enjoyable and stimulating interactions that not only enhance children’s well-being but also facilitate their learning and overall development. Additionally, emphasis is placed on establishing positive relationships with various stakeholders, including children, parents, Centre Managers, Legally Responsible Persons, staff members, and external professionals/agencies.
The module further highlights the significance of play as the central medium through which young children absorb knowledge. Participants gain insights into harnessing play as a dynamic tool for planning and executing high-quality learning and care programs.
The Childcare Educator is equipped with the skills to utilise observation, assessment, and planning processes in the implementation of pedagogical and curriculum approaches. These approaches are rooted in child-centred, inquiry-driven, and play-based learning methodologies.
Additionally, participants are introduced to the five broad learning outcomes outlined in the Early Years Cycle, serving as a comprehensive guide for pedagogy and assessment. This framework, as endorsed by the MEDE (2012) and DQSE (2015), forms the cornerstone of the Childcare Educator's instructional approach, ensuring a balanced and effective learning environment for young children.
